So you know how to use a sewing machine and have made a cushion cover or two, but now want to dive in to the world of making clothes. This course is aimed at those who know how to use a sewing machine and now wants to to learn how to follow a sewing pattern to make clothes.
This is the perfect next step if you have completed our ‘ Introduction to sewing class ‘
Over 4 weeks you will learn how to read and understand a dressmaking pattern, from finding your size, how much fabric you need, layout and cut your fabric as well as following the instructions to assemble your chosen pattern.
You will get advice on how to adjust the fit where needed and the aim of the course is to make you feel confident to work from a sewing pattern on your own.
You will learn:
Week 1: How to find your size and choose your fabric. Learn how to follow a pattern layout and cut fabric
Week 2: Learn how to pin and assemble your fabric pieces
Week 3: Fitting advice and adjustments where needed
Week 4: Finishing touches and hemming
What’s included in your course:
– Use of a sewing machine and sewing tools
– Tutoring
You will need to purchase your chosen pattern, fabric and haberdashery (we have a great selection of both – you can choose on the first day!)
Please note: this four-week course runs on consecutive weeks and each session is 2 hours long:
Monday 4, 11, 18 & 25 September (7pm – 9 pm each week)
