Kid’s Summer School

Calling all crafty kids! Like Sew Amazing’s Summer Sewing School is aimed at children aged 8-12. This four-week course is the perfect introduction to any child using a domestic sewing machine.

Every workshop focuses on a different fun project, from cushion covers to tote bags. This experience is open to complete beginners or children who know how to sew and want to make something over the summer holidays. You can choose how many workshops you would like your child to take part in, select each date that you would like.

Session 1 (25th July/ 3rd August) Sewing machine basics:

• How to thread a sewing machine
• Basic machine safety
• The different parts of a sewing machine
• How to use different stitches
• How to make a simple hair scrunchie

Session 2 (10th August) Make a cushion cover:

• How to choose the right fabric for your project
• Learn how to cut from a pattern
• Top stitching
• How to finish seams

Session 3 (17th August) Make a tote bag:

• How to choose the correct fabric for your project
• Learn how to cut from a pattern
• How to make straps
• How to finish seams

Session 4 (24th August) Make bunting:

• How to choose the correct fabric for your project
• How to cut from a pattern
• How to attach the bunting to bias binding to make a string of bunting

Each session starts at 2pm and ends at 4pm.
